[edit] Boutique Info
The decor in the Emporium resembles the big American stores of the beginning of the 20th century. Emporium is big - at 850 square meters it's the largest boutique in Disneyland Park. When you enter, you can't miss the two big posters on the wall. One of them advertises the original 'Emporium Department Store', a real store in Los Angeles in 1855. Despite the fact that this Emporium was build 100 years later, it fits the atmosphere of Main Street. On the other poster is a picture of 'Florida Store', build in 1871 in Orlando. Spread around the boutique are paintings and photos of Walt Disney himself.
Because the Imagineers who built Emporium wanted everything to be authentic, they even built the system for the cash registers themselves. The system was designed by Eddie Sotto and Eddie Johnson, and was based on a photo of the interior of a New York shop from the 1900s. The system includes the baskets that were used 100 years ago when the tellers weren't allowed to handle the money. The money was put into these baskets, were brought to the accountants via this system, and the accountants put the change in the basket.
